China already testing ultrafast 6G internet in space
China has already fired what it claims is the world’s first 6G satellite into orbit and it could be 100 times faster than 5G.

While the world continues to discuss the 5G network and its effects on the environment and health, China is looking ahead and catapulting us into a hyper-technological future in which the internet connection will be ever faster.

The Asian country, always at the forefront of new technologies, is preparing to develop the 6G connection, sending the first satellite into orbit to support this network.

The satellite, designed by the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, took off from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center; the goal is to test the communication system that uses terahertz frequencies. The satellite will also be used for the management of territorial planning and for environmental surveys, to be applied in the fight against climate change.

How fast will the network of the future be?

The network of the future will reach an impressive speed, that could be 100 times faster than 5G. It will be around Terabytes per second, with latencies not exceeding one millisecond.

Of course, the 6G network will not be developed immediately and there is still a long way to go. But the satellite’s launch represents a step forward in the race for an ultra-fast global network.
